About the Project

Smart Items LLC needed a distinctive, scalable logo that communicates innovation and reliability while remaining simple enough for everyday use. We explored multiple directions and refined a monogram that fuses the letter S and letter I into a single, memorable form. The system was crafted in vector for pixel-perfect edges, optimized for legibility from favicon to billboard, and delivered with clear spacing rules, color usage, and lockups to keep the identity consistent wherever it appears.

Problems

The brand lacked a unified visual identity, struggled with recognition in a crowded category, and needed a mark that stayed legible at small sizes, worked in one color, and adapted to dark/light backgrounds. Prior attempts were either too generic or too detailed to scale, and there was no guideline to ensure consistent use across digital, print, and packaging.

Our Solutions

  • Developed a creative S + I monogram that merges both initials into a single, balanced icon with strong negative-space logic.
  • Ran rapid concept exploration and critiques, narrowing to three viable directions before final refinement and grid alignment.
  • Engineered the mark as a pure vector with optical corrections for high legibility from 16px favicons to large-format signage.
  • Defined a flexible color system (primary + neutrals) and light/dark variants to maintain contrast and accessibility.
  • Selected a complementary wordmark typeface and set spacing, clear space, and minimum-size rules in a concise brand guide.
  • Delivered production-ready assets (AI, SVG, PDF, PNG) and practical mockups for web, app icon, social, and stationery.

Animations

For presentation, we showcased a subtle logo reveal: clean stroke-draw to construct the S + I paths, a micro scale-in with 320–380ms easing, and a gentle mask wipe to introduce the wordmark. Motion was transform/opacity-only for 60fps, with reduced-motion alternatives that switch to static fades. Timing stayed within 300–500ms to keep the focus on clarity rather than spectacle.
